Michigan Democratic Party Tried To Cut Rep. Peters & Draft Battier

Today, Grantland reported that the Michigan Democratic Party approached professional basketball player Shane Battier to run for U.S. Senate instead of their current candidate, Congressman Peters. “Considering Congressman Peters’ abysmal record on jobs and the economy, it’s no surprise the Michigan Democratic Party tried to cut Congressman Peters and make Shane Battier their starter in the race for U.S. Senate against Terri Lynn Land.” – Heather Swift, Land Campaign Spokeswoman “Battier is nearing retirement now, and he can no longer shoot, dribble, or defend like he once did. The Michigan Democratic Party recently called him to see if he might consider running to replace U.S. Senator Carl Levin, Battier said. He declined, but he’s closer to retirement than he is to the player who helped Miami unlock its identity.” (Zach Lowe, “We Went There: Thoughts From Miami,” Grantland, 5/27/14)
